How to Set Up Your Propagation Station at Home!

So, you've got your brand new TLG propagation station! Let’s get it set up and ready to grow.

Step 1: Prep Your Station

Start by giving your test tube a quick rinse with water to make sure it’s clean and ready for your cutting. If it’s been sitting for a while, a gentle wash with mild soap and a thorough rinse will do the trick.

Step 2: Fill with Water

Fill the test tube about three-quarters full with clean, room-temperature water. Distilled or filtered water is best, but tap water works fine in most cases.

Step 3: Snip Your Cutting

Choose a healthy plant and cut just below a node (that’s the little bump where roots will form). Use clean scissors or pruning shears to avoid passing along bacteria. Look for a cutting with a couple of leaves and at least one node that will sit in the water. I recommend letting the cutting sit out for about 24hrs to allow it to callous over before putting it in the water.

Step 4: Pop It in the Tube

Gently place the cutting into the tube, making sure the node is fully submerged while the leaves stay above water. You might need to adjust the angle so it sits just right.

Step 5: Set the Vibe

Place your propagation station in a bright, indirect light spot—think windowsill glow without the direct rays.

Now You Wait (and Watch the Magic Happen)

In a week or two, you’ll start to see roots sprout—and trust us, it never gets old. Whether you're growing a whole new plant or just love the look of greenery in glass, your handmade station is now officially in action.
